The Scientific Computer Society of Spain (SAW), that Madrid clubs Km0 y Andalusia Malaga de ZONTA International y SNGULAR They called the third edition of the SCIE-ZONTA-SNGULAR awards. The awards aim to recognize the contribution of women pursuing doctoral studies in the area of computer science, encourage their start in a research career and create references for new generations, thus reducing the gender gap.. These awards seek to highlight the need to attract the talent of women towards research in the field of computing in Spain.

The SCIE-ZONTA-SNGULAR Prize was awarded to Cristina Bolaños Peño, doctoral student of ARCO Research Group. The candidate has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Castilla-La Mancha with Extraordinary Award for the best Final Degree Project in the area of Engineering and Architecture. He attended the Master's Degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, obtaining the Turing Machine Award for the best Master's Thesis awarded by Ubótica. His thesis topic addresses the development of a platform that empowers older people toward active self-management of their own care, health, and quality of life. This topic is part of the work carried out in the European project H2020 SHAPES. He is participating in two competitive research projects. She has also been greatly concerned about the participation of women in STEM careers and the reduction of the gender gap in the professional field of engineering. She has participated in the program mentors from the UCLM Higher School of Informatics, has organized activities on programming, robotics and artificial intelligence in Secondary Education Institutes for the promotion of STEM studies and, especially, has participated in numerous activities on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and the International Day of Girls in ICTs
