Requirements, access profile and admission criteria

access requirements

The minimum legal requirements for admission to any of the doctoral programs are those specified in the section “Access for new doctoral students” this link

Recommended access profile

The most appropriate profile for access to the Doctoral Program in Advanced Information Technology at the University of Castilla-La Mancha is provided by the title of Master's Degree in Advanced Information Technology, as well as its predecessor, the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) of the old program PhD in Architecture and Management of Information and Knowledge in Network Systems.

On the other hand, the Access Commission of the Doctorate Program in Advanced Information Technology – which will coincide with the Academic Commission of the Doctorate Program in Advanced Information Technology – will assess the applications of students who have completed a Master's Degree or have obtained the DEA or the Research proficiency in areas related to this program.

The recommended entry profile presupposes that doctoral students provide a series of prior knowledge, such as (1) designing and developing software/hardware systems using computer technologies; (2) model, configure, and evaluate computer systems; (3) design and implement new generation software systems in a reliable, safe and productive way, selecting the best technological solution for a project; (4) develop data integration systems; (5) apply advanced user interaction techniques, information retrieval, knowledge extraction, data mining, soft computing, and artificial intelligence.

Other access profiles

  • Students with an official Bachelor's, Bachelor's or Diploma degree and at least 60 credits completed in a Master's degree in other Engineering and Science degrees, but who do not provide the prior knowledge requested in the recommended profile. These students will take 18 ECTS credits of subjects from the Master's Degree in Computer Engineering (MUII). This master's degree is taught in two centers, the Higher School of Computer Engineering of Ciudad Real and Albacete. Curricula are available at https://www.uclm.es/Estudios/masteres/master-ingenieria-informatica-ciudad-real y https://www.uclm.es/Estudios/masteres/master-ingenieria-informatica-albaceterespectively.
  • Students in possession of another previous Doctorate degree in Engineering or Sciences. These students will take 12 ECTS credits in subjects taught in the Master's Degree in Computer Engineering (MUII) whose data and study plans can be found in the links outlined above.

Specific admission criteria for the doctoral program in Advanced Information Technology

The specific student selection criteria are the following (according to what is established in point 3.2 of the Report):

  2. The applicant's curriculum vitae. Up to 5 points, adding: a. Academic record (average grade). Up to 4 points. A range between 0 and 4 will be established, with 0 being the score corresponding to the minimum mark necessary to pass the bachelor's and master's studies, and 4 being the score corresponding to the maximum mark that can be achieved. b. Previous experience in research and teaching will be valued. Up to 1 points.
  3. Justification, by the student, of their interest and adaptation to the lines of the doctoral program. Through a personal interview with the program coordinator, the student's motivation and personal commitment to the Doctoral Program in Advanced Information Technologies will be assessed. Up to 1 point.
