Standards and development


Recipients

  • Pre-university students from 10 to 17 years old, and their teachers.

Team

  • They will be mixed and will be made up of: 3-5 students from the center, one of whom will be the captain and the other in charge of computer support, and an accompanying teacher.
  • The same center may register several teams.
  • Teams made up of students from several centers are also allowed.
  • A maximum of 12 teams will be admitted to the Tournament.

Championship development

  • Previous phase: The registered teams will play a group and/or knockout stage (depending on the number of teams) until the 4 best teams are determined.
  • Semifinals and final between teams: The 4 best teams of the previous phase will face each other in the semifinals and final framed in the Activities of Santa Tecla of the Higher School of Informatics, giving rise to the gold finalist and silver finalist.
  • Game with an International Master (IM): The winning team (gold finalist) will play against a professional player who will play alone and without computational support or wildcards.

Development of games and regulations

  • The game will follow the FIDE Laws of Chess. Players will not be allowed to have electronic devices.
  • Each game will be played between 2 teams, drawing lots and alternating the color of the pieces throughout the championship.
  • Each team will have 25 minutes, with an increase of 5 seconds per move. A giant chess clock will be used.
  • In the final the teams will play 2 games. In the event of a tie, one player from each team will play a tiebreaker game in a 5-minute per player mode with a 3-second increment.
  • The teams will have wildcards to request aid of the following types:
    • 3 jokers for public consultation, which proposes their moves using the mobile, which will be displayed on a screen.
    • 3 computer query wildcards. The teams will be able to bring a computer with chess software that they will play the game, and which they will be able to consult 3 times. This team is managed by the student in charge of computational support, being the only one who can consult it and who transfers the proposed moves to his classmates. The organization will provide a team in case one is not available.
  • During the use of jokers the time on the clock will be stopped.

Disclosure and dissemination

  • The final games will be broadcast online.
  • The participants accept, by registering, the above as well as that the images of the games and of the players can be disseminated through the social media of the ESI or its media, such as the website.

Jury

  • In order to comply with the rules, make decisions based on the course of events and determine the winners, the jury will be made up of the Director of the School, a representative of the Ciudad Real Chess Club and a representative of the Student Delegation of Ciudad Real. Computing.

  • Each team will play between 3 and 5 games, in the afternoon between 16:00 p.m. and 19:00 p.m., from September 27 to October 14.
  • Final and superfinal phase: 24 and 26/October.
