AMFISA, the Association of the Physically and Mentally Disabled of Almagro, presents its website resulting from a new solidarity project by the students of the Higher School of Informatics

On March 19, the new website of the AMFISA association was published on the internet. A new project of generosity and altruism by the students of the Higher School of Informatics of the University of Castilla – La Mancha who, within a project of teaching innovation and knowledge transfer, have faced the resolution of a real problem while learning the contents of the Electronic Commerce subject.

The association of the Physically and Mentally Disabled of Almagro (AMFISA), aware of the need to have a presence on the Internet, published its new website on March 19 (https://www.amfisa.es ). A website that was born as a result of the altruistic collaboration of students from the Higher School of Informatics of the University of Castilla-La Mancha directed by Professor José Jesús Castro, with the association. The project is framed within a teaching innovation experience based on project-based learning and service learning.

The new web

It is a website with a current design, adaptable to different devices and with simplified navigation, which is adapted to new times and connected to social networks. This new tool will help achieve the association's objectives: build an environment in which each individual, regardless of their abilities, feels valued and empowered. The website offers the most important information about the association, its objectives, the services they offer, and the way in which you can collaborate with it. In addition, it will have a blog created with the aim of offering information about the events they organize and the most relevant news related to AMFISA. As a highlight of the solution developed, is the presence of an online store where you can see and buy the solidarity products that are made in the association and whose funds obtained through their sale will be used to provide resources, services and a welcoming space that encourages personal growth, active participation and a sense of belonging.

The project

Three students, Raúl Calzado Olmo, Pedro Campos Castellanos and Adrián Carrasco Espinosa, future computer engineers, from the Higher School of Informatics, directed by Professor Castro, have studied, designed and developed, while learning the knowledge of the subject of Electronic Commerce, a website for the AMFISA Association. For 5 months they have worked intensely and full of enthusiasm, hand in hand with the association, to improve their web presence and provide them with a powerful tool that would allow them to use new technologies to achieve their objectives. A project-based learning and service learning experience, in which students have learned while facing a real problem, and doing something useful for the closest society, in this case for people with disabilities in Almagro. It has been a very enriching project for the students: learning while doing something useful provides a lot of happiness.

The AMFISA Association

It has its roots in 1988, but it was in 2009 when it experienced a significant rebirth by forming a new Board of Directors. This board, made up of nine direct relatives of people with disabilities, marked the beginning of a crucial stage for the association. With a solid commitment and a renewed vision, AMFISA was consolidated as an independent entity with a clear purpose: to improve the quality of life of the group of people with disabilities in the municipality of Almagro.

Since its inception, AMFISA has worked tirelessly to create a positive impact in the community, advocating for inclusion, equal opportunities and respect for diversity. The association stands as a beacon of hope, providing support and services to those facing physical and psychological challenges, as well as their families. We invite you to visit the website, thus helping us to make visible people with disabilities and the work we do as an association.
