HackForGood 2024
On March 15 and 16, the 2024 edition of HackForGood will be held at the UCLM, which is an event organized by Telefónica with the support of the Telefónica Chairs Network, in which more than 20 universities distributed in multiple local locations participate. . Furthermore, this edition will be a little special because it coincides with the centenary of the Telefónica company and because a team from the UCLM was the overall winner at the national level in the previous edition.
The UCLM participates in this event using as headquarters the Higher School of Informatics of the Campus in Ciudad Real, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Talavera de la Reina and the Laboratory of the UCLM-Telefónica Chair at the Institute of Technology, Construction and Telecommunications of Cuenca .
This event, fundamentally, consists of a Hackathon in which the participants, previously registered, will present and develop ideas, products, services and applications aimed at proposing the solution to some social challenge, previously proposed. We emphasize that the most important thing is the presentation of the ideas and not only the level of finish that can be achieved in the first instance.
It is worth highlighting the prizes planned for the participants. There will be more than €2.000 in prizes for participants at each local venue, plus €10.000 for global winners (from among the winners at each venue). However, many previous participants emphasize that the best reward is participating.

Therefore, we want to encourage UCLM students to sign up and participate in an activity like this, which is expected to have high visibility and many opportunities to learn and enjoy. In this sense, it is worth highlighting how students who have participated in previous editions have used this event as a springboard to join working on especially technological projects at Telefónica.
