Course #0 Mathematics and Physics

On September 7, 8, 11 and 12, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 14 p.m. the zero year of mathematics and physics will be held for new first-year students in the 2023-2024 academic year. All those who wish to take the course must enroll. Below are course details:

Dates, Time and Place

September 7, 8, 11 and 12, 2023.

9.00 - 14.00 hours. In the Tim Berners-Lee classroom (A1.2) on the 7th, 8th and 11th and in the Steve Jobs classroom (F0.2) on the 12th. Teaching will be face-to-face and in case the health situation prevents it, it will be online.

 

Justification and Objectives of the Teachings

Difficulties have been observed in first-year students of Computer Engineering studies to address basic subjects such as Mathematics and Physics, this fact has motivated the offer of Course Zero.

The purpose of this course is to provide students who are beginning their university life with a preparation and/or review of the fundamentals of Mathematics and Physics that will be necessary to successfully address the different subjects that make up their study plan.

Planned Calendar

Pre-registration: from July 17 to 28, 2023.          

List of Admitted: July 28, 2023.     

Registration: July 31 to September 4, 2023.  

Program

Teaching schedule: 20 hours, divided into 4 sessions of 5 hours.

Assessment in ECTS credits: 1 credit

Course program:

  • Algebra Review (Numbers, Matrices, Equations)
  • Calculus Review (Functions, Continuity, Differentiability, Integration in one variable)
  • Fundamentals of Vector Analysis (Vectors, Operations, Products, Derivatives, Integrals)

Number of places

Lowest: 30

Maximum: 60

Requirements and Admission Procedure

  • Newly Enrolled Students
  • In order of registration, with preference to those students enrolled in the ESI

Course price

Fifty (€50).

Evaluation and Control Criteria

Attendance will be compulsory in at least 80% of the hours. A certificate of attendance and achievement will be issued by the Escuela Superior de Informática.

Pre-registration and Enrollment

Pre-registration must be formalized by filling out the application in the web course application (https://cursosweb.uclm.es/). Admitted students must formalize their enrollment on the same web page and submit proof of payment to the ESI Secretariat (if payment is made by card, nothing needs to be delivered to the Secretariat).
