Juan Carlos López adds his experience to the group of experts of the PERTE CHIP Strategic Project

The professor of the Higher School of Informatics in (UCLM), Juan Carlos Lopez, joined the newly formed group of experts in the strategic project for economic recovery and transformation – PERTE CHIP, who will oversee Spain's ambitious microelectronics and semiconductors plan. The committee, which consists of eleven renowned members in the business, academic and scientific fields, is led by the first vice president, Nadia Calviño.

The committee is designed to ensure the effective and coordinated implementation of investments and actions within the project. Its mission is to offer relevant information and strategic guidance that maximize the impact of the project, particularly in the manufacturing and design of microchips.

During its first meeting, the committee evaluated the significant achievements of the first year of the project. These include important investments from multinationals such as Cisco, Intel, Open Chip and Broadcom, as well as the opening of a grant program with an endowment of 60 million euros for R&D projects in microelectronics and semiconductors.

The committee has also announced the next call for 'Chip Chairs', a project endowed with 80 million euros aimed at training at least 1.000 qualified professionals and research throughout the value chain of the semiconductor industry
