Boreal Wigs, a new project by COE students

12 years ago, Inma Sánchez was diagnosed with breast cancer. After overcoming it, with a fight that would last 16 months of chemotherapy and 10 years of pills, in 2013, she felt the need to help other women who faced this same disease and situations that she had already experienced, such as hair loss. . She wanted to put some empathy into the recovery process from this disease and provide emotional support based on her experience. During the illness, she learned the importance of self-esteem and feeling good about herself in order to overcome the illness.

Inma trained as an advisor in oncology aesthetics and in the recovery of body image in breast prostheses, knowledge that, together with her experience, allowed her to found in Tomelloso in 2013. Boreal Wigs. A center that was born with the intention of being a "family" place in which to feel comfortable and, above all, understood.

Being aware of the importance that the internet would have and the need to have a presence on the web so that her initiative reaches as many women as possible, in 2013 she registered the domain of her store, and in 2015 she created her first web page. A catalog website in which she advertised Boreal Wigs, as well as the catalog of wigs, hairpieces, extensions, turbans... as well as mastectomy lingerie that could be found in her physical store. This website was linked to her profiles on social networks.

Ten years later... the students of the School of Computer Science for the University of Castilla-La Mancha, who are studying Electronic Commerce, learned about his history and wanted to help him take another step in his presence on the web, designing and developing a new website for his initiative. A new website with which you were not only on the web, but also allowed you to carry out your commercial activities on the web: they wanted you to be able to sell your products through the web with online payment.

The Pelucas Boreal e-commerce website is the result of a project-based learning experience. In it, the students, while they face the challenges that the development of the project supposes, learn the knowledge of the subject of Electronic Commerce of the intensification of Information Technologies of the Degree in Computer Engineering. The students have learned to: develop an electronic commerce solution, with an elegant appearance and adapted to any device; work on SEO, onpage and offpage positioning; integrate an online payment platform via credit card; and take data to perform web analytics.

The website has been developed by students Juan Caravantes Algaba, Maria Jesus Duenas Recuero, Sergio Garrido Merino, Laura Morales Caro y Jesus Sanchez Cambronero-Camposunder the direction of Professor Jose Jesus Castro Sanchez, in a totally altruistic way and identified with Inma for her ability to fight, her joy and desire to live and be happy. Our students get great professional and personal learning.
