Coral Calero appointed member of the Spanish Research Ethics Committee

Coral Calero, PhD in Computer Engineering and professor at the Higher School of Computer Science at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), has been named a member of the recently created Spanish Committee for Research Ethics. Coral is also director of the research group GreenTeam Alarcos, focused on sustainability within the digitization processes.

The Ministry of Science and Innovation, led by Minister Diana Morant, announced the creation and constitution of the Spanish Research Ethics Committee in Zaragoza, an independent and advisory body attached to the Scientific, Technological and Innovation Policy Council, made up of 12 members.

Coral Calero was elected during the 15th Council meeting, chaired by Minister Diana Morant. According to the director of the Investigation Agency, José Antonio Castro, Calero is "an international benchmark in research in its area of ​​knowledge, especially with regard to sustainability within the digitization processes."

Your profile is highly relevant to the Committee, as you will contribute your experience and knowledge in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and the impact of software on the environment. In addition to her research work, Coral carries out important outreach tasks, focusing on raising awareness about the importance of energy efficiency in software and making visible the presence of women in STEM fields.

The Research Ethics Committee has among its powers to issue reports and recommendations on matters related to scientific integrity, responsible research and the ethics of scientific and technical research.
