Gordon Moore dies at 94

Gordon Moore died on March 25 at the age of 94 (San Francisco, January 3, 1929-Hawaii, March 24, 2023). Moore was an American electrical physicist and engineer, known for his work at the Intel Corporation foundation and for his famous "Moore's Law." Moore's Law, proposed by Moore himself in 1965, stated that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubled approximately every two years, reflecting the rapid advancement in computer technology.

Moore's Law

Before co-founding Intel, Moore worked at Fairchild Semiconductor, where he was one of eight founders. There, he helped develop the first commercially viable silicon integrated circuit.

G. Moore also contributed significantly to the development of CMOS technology, which has enabled the manufacture of low-power silicon chips and has been instrumental in the creation of mobile devices and other low-power electronic devices.

Moore was also known for his philanthropy, and along with his wife, he has generously donated funds to education, science, and technology. In 2001, he founded the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, which aims to improve people's quality of life through the advancement of science, research and education.

Moore's Law served to backbone technological development. Gordon Moore, who was a true pioneer in the technology industry, leaves behind a legacy that is an inspiration to many; legacy that will be present at the Higher School of Informatics of UCLM, DEP.
