Ciudad Real pays tribute to female scientists and promotes gender equality in science

The Higher School of Informatics has witnessed the awards ceremony of the Second contest "Discover scientists in Ciudad Real", in which students from various schools in the city participated. The initiative, organized by the Department of Equality of the City Hall of Ciudad Real and Ingenious Women Project, aimed to raise awareness about the role of women in science and engineering, and foster interest in this discipline among the youngest.

During the contest, the students created posters with the image of prominent female scientists, which were displayed in shop windows around the city. Chemical engineering professor Mª Luz Sánchez, who was also honored with one of the award-winning posters, highlighted the importance of sharing her experience with schoolchildren and highlighting the presence of women in the history of science.

The winners received supporting diplomas, lots of books sponsored by the Ciudad Real Provincial Council and vouchers redeemable for school supplies. The initiative was well received by the educational community and contributed to promoting gender equality and interest in science among the youngest.

The presence of the director of the Higher School of Informatics, Crescencio Bravo, in this act is due to the commitment of the institution with the promotion of gender equality and the dissemination of science and engineering. As an academic institution, it is important to foster interest in science and engineering among young people and, in particular, in the presence of women in them. This initiative is aligned with the vision of the Escuela Superior de Informática of training professionals committed to society and with an inclusive and critical perspective.
