The 5 books recommended by... Raúl Barba

We premiere section! “The five books recommended by” that premieres Raul Barba, student of the School. Would you like to read the books that Raúl recommends? Keep reading. We asked him that three of them were technological and another two on different themes.

three technological books

  1. Practical Programming: An Introduction to Computer Science Using Python 3.6. This was the first book I read after entering the race. In my opinion, it is a completely undervalued book, since it guides you through basic concepts that every programmer should know, but it also proposes examples to demonstrate all the concepts that are explained. If I had to start over, I would definitely read it again. [see in UCLM library].
  1. Introduction to Algorithms: one of the “must-haves” for those people who are passionate about algorithms. In my opinion, it is really good, since it starts from a practically zero base, to later talk about different data structures, both those that are simpler and those that are more complex. Definitely a book worth reading at least once. [see in UCLM library].
  1. The Practical SQL Handbook: This is a book that I discovered in second grade and it is highly recommended, since, from scratch, it explains the SQL language in depth and with examples. Although it is true that it only covers relational databases, it is a book that is worth reading to have a good foundation on this type of database. [see in UCLM library].

Two non-tech books

  1. Momos: Although it is classified as a children's novel, in my opinion this book is much more than that and I recommend reading it to anyone, regardless of age. It is one of the books that has made me reflect the most on what really matters, what we take for granted that we have, but that we do not make the most of: time [see in UCLM library].
  2. Crime and Punishment: Without a doubt, another work of art. For me it was a really hard book to read, since if you get into the main character you can end up suffering just like he does. In addition, all the characters have interesting behavior that we can reflect on. If you like psychological novels, this book is one you definitely have to read. [see in UCLM library].
