Marcela Genero in an act of ingenious women

The ESI and Ingenious Women in Daimiel

Our teacher Marcela Genero and two students from the ESI, Laura Villa and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, and a student from the ETSII, Natalia Ruedas, have participated on October 17 in activities of the Conference “INGENIOUS WOMEN. Feminine engineering” held in the Daimiel Culture Hall. Specifically, on this occasion, sixth-grade students from CEIP Calatrava and La Albuera attended a guided tour of the Exhibition of Ingenious Women, which highlights famous women engineers who have made advances in science and technology since the nineteenth century. XIX, such as Ada Lovelace, Hedy Lamarr, Margaret E. Knight, Emily Warren Roebling, María Vallet Regí, among others.

In addition, a workshop was held using virtual reality glasses and they showed different objects and materials that aroused great curiosity among the girls and boys who attended. The main objective of these activities is to highlight the role of women engineers and awaken vocations for STEM disciplines among boys and girls. We thank the City Council of Daimiel, the Department of Equality, the Women's Center, the Ingenious Women Group of the UCLM, the teaching staff of the participating CEIPs and the children in attendance for allowing this type of activity to be carried out with such success.

These activities are part of a Program which will take place throughout the month of October.
