II Turing Machine Awards

The Prize is announced Turing machine to the best TFE presented in the 2021/2022 academic year in the Bachelor's degrees in Computer Engineering and Master's in Computer Engineering taught at the UCLM School of Computer Science.

This joint call aims to promote and recognize the performance of quality TFE, which solve problems of interest to society and produce relevant advances in the field of knowledge addressed, as well as facilitate the participation and concurrence of candidates in a single assessment process.

Participant Requirements

All those who meet the following requirements may participate in this call:

  • ESI students who have completed their Bachelor's or Master's studies during the 2021/2022 academic year and who, therefore, have defended their Final Degree Project (TFG) or Final Master's Project (TFG) in any of the calls of the aforementioned academic course.
  • The qualification of said work must have been at least remarkable with a numerical qualification of eight (8)
  • Not be involved in any of the prohibitions to obtain the status of beneficiary contained in art. 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies. The beneficiary must be aware of their legal, tax and Social Security obligations.

Form and deadline for submitting applications

1. The presentation of applications will comply with the provisions of administrative law, according to the model that appears as Annex I and will be done at any of the UCLM Registry offices or by any other means included in Law 39/2015, of October 1 of the Common Administrative Procedure of the Public Administrations, among them the electronic registry of the UCLM. The request will be addressed to the secretary of the ESI.

2. The application submission period will remain open from October 5 until 14:00 p.m. from October 13, 2022.

3. In addition, within the same period, the candidate must send an email addressed to the email esi@uclm.es with the subject "TFE Turing Machine Awards 2021/22" the following files:

  • A copy of the TFE report in PDF format.
  • Copy of the DNI, passport or NIE.
  • Audiovisual presentation used in the defense of work in the ESI.
  • A video of no more than 5 minutes that summarizes the objectives of the work and highlights the results achieved and the strengths that make it worthy of the award.
  • Optionally, the candidate may attach to this email any other documentation that they consider may be of interest for a better assessment of the quality of the work by the Jury.

4. Communications related to this call will be made exclusively through the email account provided by the participant.

Description and characteristics of the contest and criteria for vappraisal of work

1. The evaluation criteria for the awarding of these prizes and their weighting will be the following:

  • Originality of the topic (weighting: 20%)
  • Technical complexity (weighting: 20%)
  • Results obtained (weighting: 20%)
  • Applicability (weighting: 20%)
  • Other aspects that are a consequence of the scientific or technical merits of the work, such as publications, technology transfer and/or patents or financing obtained (weighting: 20%)

2. Face-to-face presentation of the works:

  • The jury may make a pre-selection of finalist works based on the criteria established in the previous point, so that the pre-selected candidates present their works in person before the Jury and it can make an additional assessment of each one. through direct interaction with them. This assessment will weight 40% and the one obtained as indicated in paragraph 1 will be the remaining 60%.
    • It is planned that this event will be held between October 19 and 21, organized by the Committee for Academic Planning and Final Projects of the ESI. The specific date will be communicated individually to the selected authors and will be published on the same web page where the call has been published.
    • Each candidate will have 20 minutes and will be able to use the audiovisual media they deem appropriate to expose the most relevant aspects of their work, with the jury being able to ask questions for another 10 minutes (these times may be modified with prior notice from the organization depending on the number of papers pre-selected for oral presentation).

3. If there are several works worthy of one of the prizes announced, several prizes may be awarded in any of the categories, among which the planned financing will be distributed. In the same way, several prizes can be combined into one depending on the quantity and excellence of the works presented.

4. A candidate may not receive more than two awards in this call.
