The research, curricular innovation and educational assistance of both centers have been recognized

The Higher School of Computer Engineering of Albacete and the Higher School of Computer Science of Ciudad Real have been recognized with the IBM Spain University Award for their research, curricular innovation and educational assistance. In this way, a history of collaboration between these schools of the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the IBM company is reflected through the organization of hackathons, training courses, training sessions for companies and projects in collaboration with Secondary schools, "which has allowed to establish synergies between UCLM and IBM”, as stated by both centers

Within the framework of the "University Day" conference, held on May 31 in Madrid, under the organization of IBM, the Higher School of Computer Engineering of Albacete and the Higher School of Computer Science of Ciudad Real received the IBM Spain University Award for his research, curriculum innovation, and educational assistance.

At this meeting, representatives of all Spanish universities were presented with IBM's proposals to achieve the best training for bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Engineering. Likewise, the platforms and resources that IBM offers free of charge to all Spanish universities were presented to the university faculty, as well as the research challenges that the company is considering for the coming years.

In particular, Professor Enrique Arias Antunez, from the Higher School of Computer Engineering (ESII) of Albacete, participated in a round table on the experiences that are being carried out in different Spanish universities on the use of IBM Bluemix or Watson technologies. In this way, the professor presented the results of the Smart Education for a smart SOciety (SESO) project, which the ESII has developed during the 2018-2019 academic year in collaboration with seven Secondary Education institutes in the city of Albacete.

The professor highlighted that thanks to this project the students of these institutes have been able to develop different projects related to the Internet of Things, cloud computing, data analytics and mobile application programming, using the latest technologies. Likewise, he highlighted the work carried out by IBM, which has provided free access to a large number of technological resources, through the IBM Cloud for the development of the different projects, as well as an economic endowment.
