We deeply regret the great loss of our teacher

Death of our teacher and professor Camelia Muñoz

The UCLM university community, and particularly the family of the Escuela Superior de Informática, wants to send all its support and show its condolences for the loss of our great colleague and friend Camelia Muñoz Caro, especially our dear colleague and also professor at the ESI, Alfonso Nino.

Those who have been lucky enough to be his students appreciated the orderly and structured way of teaching his classes, his always affable and close treatment with the students and his concern that everything be clear. Some of these students are now professors at the Escuela Superior de Informática and have also been able to meet her as a colleague. In this facet, she has been generous from the beginning, sharing all her knowledge and all her teaching and research material. In short, she has tried to instill in all of us with her example the importance of order, the ability to work, discipline and a passion for research. And during these last years, her ability to work and fight without ever falling into discouragement. Thanks for everything!!!

Camelia was a recognized expert in computational techniques and quantum mechanics. She obtained her Doctorate degree in 1988 from the Complutense University of Madrid, and in 1990 he joined University of Castilla-La Mancha, being the first doctor of the School of Computer Science of Ciudad Real and supporting the growth of this school from the beginning. In his career he worked for various international institutions such as the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)Brock University, Ontario (Canada)Autonomous University of Madrid and in the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (Mexico). His multidisciplinary line of work was mainly oriented towards Scientific Computing, having worked on the simulation of biological and spectroscopic systems, on parallelization of algorithms, and on problems of self-planning of processes in computer Grids. He wrote a hundred publications and several books. She was an expert evaluator for the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). In addition, since 1991 she was co-director of the research group  scicom from the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
