ESI students have made the website of the El Lucero occupational center

A good deed for a great job. The fourth-year students of the Escuela Superior de Informática in collaboration with Bukimedia, a digital marketing agency, have launched their own website today, December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, at the El Lucero Occupational Center in Alhama de Granada with built-in online store: http://centroellucero.es/

The objective of this new portal is to promote the work carried out by the center, an organization that works with the principle of promoting social integration and providing a useful activity to people of working age, who, due to their high level of temporary or permanent disability, society it does not allow them access to ordinary or special jobs.

The project is part of the studies that have been carried out by students of the Higher School of Computer Science of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, constituting the practical work developed within the fourth year of Intensification of Information Technologies in the Computer Engineering degree.

The website of the El Lucero center explains the work carried out by staff and volunteers in favor of its users, who carry out various activities and workshops, the latter dedicated to the craftsmanship of different objects and utensils such as baskets, agendas, key chains, pins, soaps or notebooks.

For this reason, the portal developed by the students of the university also has an online store where you can buy the objects made by the members of the center, details to give away that acquire added value for the work carried out by these people with intellectual disability, thus demonstrating that they are capable of contributing their grain of sand to society.

The profits from the store represent a great collaboration in the work of the non-profit organization, since with it they carry out activities that help its users in their work and social adaptation, as well as to normalize their living conditions through occupational therapy services.

The digital project has been carried out under the direction of Professor José Jesús Castro Sánchez, from the Escuela Superior Informática (ESI) in Ciudad Real; and Eduardo León, a former student of this study center and CEO of Bukimedia, who has collaborated by sharing his knowledge with the students who have put into practice what they learned in classes with the help of this expert in marketing and electronic commerce. The joint work has laying the foundations for close cooperation between the Higher School of Informatics and Bukimedia, which will result in more competitive training for students in this field, a sector with great job prospects and professional development.
