Mario Piattini: National Computer Engineer Award
The ESI professor Mario Piattini obtains the National Award for the Career of the Computer Engineer
Our colleague Mario Piattini, professor at the Higher School of Informatics has obtained the National Award for the Professional Career of the Computer Engineer, a recognition granted unanimously by the members of the Federation of Associations of Computer Engineers of Spain. According to Journal of Systems and Software, Piattini is considered one of the fifteen greatest experts worldwide in the field of Software and Systems Engineering.
The jury justifies the awarding of the award underlining «his personal values of honesty, effort and capacity -values that he has been showing us throughout his professional and academic career- as deserving of this recognition, which is added to that made by his colleagues in the international arena». The award ruling refers to Professor Piattini as «a great example for everyone, and especially for new Computer Engineering professionals, as an innate entrepreneur and for proven service vocation in the professional field».
Before arriving at the Escuela Superior de Informática in 1997, Piattini worked in the Ministries of Industry and Energy and Public Administrations, and in the companies Siemens-Nixdorf, Unisys, Hewlett-Packard and Oracle, among others. He has also made inroads in the business world as an entrepreneur and founder or partner of numerous companies, such as Cronos Ibérica, SA, Kybele Consulting, SL and Alarcos Quality Center, SL
