First Phase (Course 2021/2022)

City coming out of a mobile phone held in a hand

The first deployment of the project consisted of the acquisition, configuration and installation of the following devices:

  • Sensors car park: detect presence or absence of vehicles. They have been installed in four ESI parking spaces (view image).
  • CO2 sensors, which measure the level of CO2, temperature, relative humidity, movement and luminosity and have been installed in the classrooms of module B. (view image).
  • Outdoor weather station, with the ability to measure external temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, particle pollution (PM1, PM2.5 and PM10). This station has a solar panel which makes it a totally autonomous device (view image). This sensor has been installed on the terrace of the third floor of the Fermín Caballero building.
  • Bidirectional counter for the flow of people based on infrared, located at the main entrance of the Fermín Caballero Building (view image).

All sensors are LoRa communication capable and periodically transmit information to a LoRa/WiFi capable base station (view image) which in turn forwards the data to a server installed in the CPD of the School. During the month of May 2022, the configuration and installation of the sensors was completed, as well as the data integration, storage and processing platform, based on the ChirpStack stack, MQTT and HomeAssistant.

In the hall on the first floor, a screen has been installed that allows the visualization of a dashboards based on Home Assistant and that shows the detail of the data collected by the sensors in real time.
