Mobile laboratory

Equipment

The School has a mini rack with wheels for teaching purposes. This mini-rack is technically a mobile lab that can easily be moved from one classroom to another. The mini-rack contains two routers, two switches each connected to its router and 18 miniPCs nine of them connected to one switch and the other nine to the other.

The current physical architecture consists of two LANs connected to each other by the two routers. Each LAN is made up of 1 switch to which 9 miniPCs are connected. However, these elements can be combined to design a large number of network topologies that allow the student to better understand the concepts of Layer 3 (Routing), Layer 2 (Ethernet), VLAN configuration, and support of features such as QoS, management, and administration. networks (SNMP) or intelligent monitoring.

The mini-rack allows you to carry out practices in the subjects of Networks I, Networks II, Distributed Systems, Internet Distributed Applications, Network Infrastructure Design, Network Management and Administration and, in general, any subject that requires experimentation with real networks. Furthermore, since it is completely isolated from the building network, the tests do not interfere with its operation and vice versa.

The characteristics of the components are the following:

tp-Link TL-SG2428P switches with 24 PoE+ ports and 4 SFP slots

  • PoE+ performance up to 250W: 24×802.3at/af compliant PoE+ ports with a total power supply of 250W*.
  • Full Gigabit Ports: The 24 × gigabit PoE+ ports and 4 × gigabit SFP slots with high-speed connections.
  • Integrated in Omada SDN: Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) **, Centralized Management in the cloud and Intelligent Monitoring.
  • Centralized Management: Cloud access and Omada app for easy convenience and management.
  • Static routing – Helps route internal traffic for more efficient use of network resources.
  • Strong security strategies: IP-MAC port binding, ACLs, port security, DoS defense, storm control, DHCP Snooping, 802.1X, radio authentication, and more.
  • Voice and video applications: L2/L3/L4 QoS and IGMP snooping.
  • IPv6: IPv6 support with IPv4/IPv6 dual stack, MLD snooping, IPv6 neighbor discovery.
