Well, and from indigence to excellence in this technology, because the University of Castilla la Mancha has won first prize in the Hack for Good competition, a marathon for the development of technological applications promoted by the network of Telefónica Chairs. The Spanish team from La Mancha that won this contest is that of the Laboratory of the UCLM Telefónica Chair at the Institute of Technology, Construction and Telecommunications of Cuenca. It is the fifth time that our university has joined this Hack for Good through the UCLM Telefónica Sistemas Avanzados Chair, interaction for digital education, directed by Professor Miguel Ángel Redondo, whom we can greet at this hour, 8 and 21 minutes in the afternoon. Professor Redondo, good afternoon.

[00:00:42.360] – Miguel A. Redondo
Good afternoon. It is a pleasure to be with you.

[00:00:44.730] – CMMedia
Well, tell us with which proposal this team has won.

[00:00:49.680] – Miguel A. Redondo
Well, to say that it is an entry that is a Hackathon a bit special, because let's say there are challengers who pose challenges and there are students who try to solve those challenges with the measures that they can contribute with their knowledge. And in this case, the challenge was to develop some kind of app that could help people who, from a psychological point of view, even from a psychiatric point of view, may need some help online and as soon as possible. And the proposal of this team of students has been to develop an app that, based on different techniques, inspired by the world of psychology, since they allow online tests to be carried out and help with advice, with different types of actions, those people who, well, for Different reasons may be happening at any given time, a moment or a somewhat delicate situation. And that was the approach of our students.

[00:01:44.280] – CMMedia
What practical application, based on your experience, do these types of pilot projects end up having? Do they end up being, shall we say, recruited or bought? I do not know if it is the exact term for the companies.

[00:01:56.820] – Miguel A. Redondo
Well, in the particular case that concerns us, as it is linked to the Telefónica company, which is the one that has promoted this type of event through its network of chairs, Telefónica has different mechanisms to precisely improve the situation in which these projects are. , accelerate these ideas, even becoming real products that we can find on the street, which can even be exploited with the participation of the authors who have worked on it, which really also represents a bridge, a link for the incorporation of these students and therefore an exceptional opportunity in a technology company, high technology, such as the one that, as I said, concerns us today in the case of Telefónica.

[00:02:39.240] – CMMedia
I'm going to ask you, professor, this is going to be easy for you to show off a bit, because from what I've seen there have been more prizes for Castilla la Mancha in this same contest in recent years. I exaggerate if I say that we have Champions level in this matter.

[00:02:52.520] – Miguel A. Redondo
Well, today is the day precisely to show off and to say so. I mean, we have, I don't know if Champions level, but we are the ones who have won in this at a national level. And that's important. It is important because 26 universities participated in the first phase, each of which brought together a series of important teams. We, for example, participated with up to 58 students and that was a first phase. And this, today's result, is the result of a second phase where the three winning teams from each of the universities mentioned above underwent a global evolution and from that global evolution the result has been that our team has won.

In previous editions, also a project that its seed was hatched at Harvard Good, since it later won a different type of award call. It is about the Fake News project and the student joined the Crazy Ideas team, led by Chema Alonso, from Telefónica. But it is that the first edition in which we had the opportunity to participate, one of our teams also won a prize at a national level, not as important as today's, but especially significant, because since it was our first participation and that somehow In this way, we also wanted to learn a little about the dynamics of this event, because it gave us the strength to continue betting on it.

[00:04:13.580] – Miguel A. Redondo
But I already said, today I believe that it is a day especially to be happy for our students who have shown the talent they have and also for the university that values it before society and particularly before the company that concerns us today, since we are capable of to generate excellent and top-level talent. And I think that is more than enough reason to congratulate them.

[00:04:38.240] – CMMedia
And the last one, professor, with your experience, do boys or girls who participate in this type of project have advantages when it comes to finding professional opportunities?

[00:04:49.400] – Miguel A. Redondo
I think so. I think so in a general context, but also in the particular context. Any company that has a transfer relationship with the knowledge transfer university, really another of the important concerns that it has is the recruitment of talent. And precisely, companies like Telefónica organize an event like this because what they want is to have a direct connection with talent. They want to have a preferential position, know the talent that is generated and be able to incorporate it into their development teams. I believe that this is why these types of initiatives are proposed, to have that competitive advantage.

[00:05:26.980] – CMMedia
Professor Redondo, thank you very much for attending us live and congratulations.

[00:05:31.190] – Miguel A. Redondo
Thank you very much.

[00:05:32.320] – CMMedia
A pleasure. Also know that bruce.
